Camp Should-A-Been - Season 10.1
This replay never happened. But it could have. While American Idol generated silly faux controversies
at about the same rate that General Mills generates Cheerios, Camp Should-A-Been really had just one
controversy to speak of in its first fifteen seasons. Back in 2011, everyone's prohibitive favorite to win the
Season Ten replay was Haley Reinhart, who posted a growth trend through the roof and saved most of her
best performances for last. Surely she'd have dispatched Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina and James Durbin with ease,
right? Only problem was, Reinhart never made it past the Wild Card round. AI10 posted the highest-rated
semifinals in WNTS history, and Reinhart's first performance was mediocre at best. By longstanding Camp rules,
her Wild Card projected rating was based only on her performances to date, and thus out she went in
a rather ignominious 15th place (Brett Lowenstein nipped her for 14th, to add insult to injury.)
A few of her Idolsphere fans -- an, ahem, rather scary bunch -- were outraged that we didn't
use her eventual 61.8 final rating as her baseline for that show, despite the fact that we'd never once
done it that way. What if we had? Here's how the Season Ten Replay would have shaken out....
